Race information

JP Morgan Round the Island Race - is the largest sail race in the world, in terms of the number of boats taking part. It is a yacht race, around the Isle of Wight, organised by the Island Sailing Club based in Cowes. It is one of the most popular fixtures on the Solent racing calendar attracting competitors from Europe and the USA. The race course is 50 miles long, starting from the Royal Yacht Squadron in Cowes, racing westbound to The Needles, round St Catherine’s Point and Bembridge Ledge back to the Solent. Kabestan Sailing Club is competing in the event! If you would like to take part, sign up!

  • When: 17th to 20th of June, 2010
  • Format: This is not cruising. You don’t need any experience, but the schedule is fairly tough, with training prior to the race.
  • Where: Cowes, Isle of Wight, England.
  • Where’s the marina: Exact details coming soon, most likely this will be Haslar Marina, Gosport, or Universal Marina in Southampton.
  • Yacht: “First 40.7″ or “Sun Odyssey 40″
  • Price: 490 pounds. 9 people per boat
  • Payment: 30% deposit. Balance by 1st of May, please.
  • What’s included: Boat charter, skipper, marinas, wet weather gear, race fees
  • Additional expense: Food on board and ashore.
  • Race charter deposit: 2000 pounds
  • Accomodation On board the yacht
  • Personal insurance: Not provided, please make sure you purchase some.
