Hello!!
Well, it has been a very busy year! From what I have heard and seen, “Kabestantsy” have been sailing all over the world, conquering unknown shores, participating in regattas, chartering boats and generally forming a small, but very exciting part of the yachting community! So, well done all!
There are plenty of news to report from the season gone. First of all, we’ve had the first ever Kabestan regatta, ‘Kabestan 2007′. This was a great success and good fun, so very well done if you have managed to make it down to Gosport for the event and even more well done if you have managed to win! We had people falling in, people dancing, people drinking, yachts crashing and plenty of wind and good weather. Perfect on all accounts! Kabestan’s first winner was Alexander Vinokurov and crew, on yacht ‘Kismet’. You can see all the photos and reports here: http://www. kabestan.co.uk
Which brings me to the second most exciting thing of the year, the launch of the Kabestan website. As the numbers in the mailing list have reached about a 100, it’s become a pain to manage these things ad-hoc, so, here comes the 21st century and a new website. Please have a look, any suggestions are very welcome! You can now subscribe and unsubscribe on the site.

In terms of events being planned for the winter, weather permitting, there will be a few day-races/practices, just for one or two boats to get a bit of practice in for next year. Only if we get enough people for a boat, of course, winter can be bloody freezing on the water, I know! You will have to move fast on booking these as they will have to be last minute if the weather forecast is good for the next few days. These things can be difficult to plan but make that pint in the pub afterwards a very well deserved prize! Watch this space for more details.
There are also, of course, the customary Christmas Drinks, which we aim to have on Friday, 30th of November, in London, so put the date in your calendar and please drop me a message if you are interested in either the day-sail or going to make it to the Christmas drinks. It would be really good to see people who haven’t managed to make it down to the regatta!
That’s about all the news, hope to see you all soon.
Best Regards
Yuri Fadeev
